Players to Look Out for in 2012 World Series of Poker National Championship

There is a lot of speculation about this year’s World Series of Poker National Championship, which is one of the most followed poker events. The event, which will be filmed by ESPN, is highly likely to bring in an additional $1,000,000, which will go into the prize pool. One of the aspects that people are speculating about the World Series of Poker National Championship is which players will make it to the final table and which one will take home the massive payday. Since registrations to the event opened up last year, 100 players signed up for a seat to the event. Some qualified for one of sixty-six bids based on the points they earned playing on the Circuit, a few won the title to the Casino Championship after playing at one of the stops on the WSOP Circuit (WSOPC), and others, by landing a title in the main events in the WSOPC. Another 100 players besides them can become eligible for the event in the coming days. The free-roll is a $1 million event.

 

Players who made the top hundred points in the events at the WSOP will be allowed to enter the event if they buy-in for $10,000. With these buy-ins, the prize pool will most likely exceed 7 figures. Some of the players who will participate in the event are those who previously qualified for the title of the Player of the Year – Ben Lamb, Michael Mizrachi and Phil Hellmuth. A few new players who can give them a run for their money are David Clark, Alex Masek and Kurt Jewell. Though not many are familiar with these players, by the end of the World Series of Poker National Championship, there is a good chance the players will become household names.

David Clark

For a number of months, Clark has held his place at the top of the leaderboard at the WSOPC. He built up his points significantly after he landed nine in-the-money finishes in 2012, which helped rake in more than $80,000. The cashes comprised of his finishes at 6 final tables and a gold WSOPC ring.

Kurt Jewell

Jewell’s performance at tournaments have earned him the recognition for being one of the very skilled poker players. He has an aggressive playing style which helps him work through large fields. Jewell, who has made a lot of impact on the WSOPC circuit, is very close to reaching stardom in the poker world. He has 12 cashes, which includes four rings from the WSOP.

Alex Masek

With his four WSOPC rings, Masek is one ring short of being on the same level as Mark Smith, one of the top players in the world of professional poker games. At the first WSOP stop, which was in The Bicycle Casino, Mark was close to taking
